ഒരു വലിയ പ്ലാസ്റ്റിക് ബോട്ടിൽ എടുത്ത് ആദ്യം അതിന്റെ നടു ഭാഗം രണ്ട് കഷ്ണങ്ങളാക്കി മുറിക്കുക. അതിനുശേഷം അടപ്പ് വരുന്ന ഭാഗമെടുത്ത് ഒരു മെഴുകുതിരിയിൽ പപ്പടക്കോൽ ചൂടാക്കി ചെറിയ ഓട്ടകൾ ഇട്ടു കൊടുക്കുക. പപ്പടക്കോൽ ഉപയോഗിച്ച് മുറിച്ചെടുത്ത ബോട്ടിലിന്റെ രണ്ട് വശങ്ങളിലും താഴെയും ഓരോ ഹോളുകൾ കൂടി ഇട്ട് നൽകണം. ശേഷം കട്ടിയുള്ള ഒരു തുണി കഷ്ണം എടുത്ത് അതിന്റെ നടുക്ക് ചെറിയ ഒരു കെട്ട് കൂടി ഇട്ട് കൊടുക്കണം.
അത് ഓട്ട ഇട്ട ഭാഗത്ത് കൂടി താഴേക്ക് വലിച്ചു എടുക്കണം. അതിലേക്ക് നിറക്കേണ്ടത് കരിയില പൊടിച്ചെടുത്തതാണ്. കുപ്പിയുടെ മുക്കാൽ ഭാഗം വരെ ഈ ഒരു പൊടി നിറച്ചു കൊടുക്കാവുന്നതാണ്. അതിനുശേഷം മുറിച്ചു വെച്ച കുപ്പിയുടെ മറ്റേ ഭാഗത്ത് വെള്ളം നിറച്ചു കൊടുക്കുക. കരിയില ഇട്ട് ഭാഗത്ത് മൂന്നോ നാലോ പുതിന തണ്ടുകൾ വച്ചു പിടിപ്പിക്കാവുന്നതാണ്. ഇപ്പോൾ താഴെയുള്ള തിരി വെള്ളത്തിൽ മുട്ടി നിൽക്കുന്നതാണ്.
ഈയൊരു വെള്ളം ഉപയോഗിച്ചാണ് ചെടി വാടാതെ നിൽക്കുന്നത്. മാത്രമല്ല വെറും മൂന്ന് മാസം കൊണ്ട് തന്നെ വീട്ടാവശ്യത്തിന് ഉള്ള പുതീന ഈ രീതിയിൽ എളുപ്പത്തിൽ വളർത്തിയെടുക്കാനും സാധിക്കും. ഒരു തുള്ളി മണ്ണ് പോലും വേണ്ടാത്തതിനാൽ അടുക്കളയുടെ അകത്തോ മറ്റെവിടെ വേണമെങ്കിലും ഈയൊരു രീതിയിൽ പുതിന എളുപ്പത്തിൽ വളർത്തിയെടുത്ത് ഉപയോഗിക്കാം. - Water Propagation Method:
- Take healthy mint cuttings about 2-4 inches long from a mature plant.
- Remove leaves from the lower part of the stem to avoid rotting.
- Place the cuttings in a glass or container filled with clean water.
- Keep the container in indirect sunlight.
- Change the water every 5-7 days to keep it fresh and oxygenated.
- Roots will start to develop within 4-7 days. Once roots are established, you can continue growing the mint in water or transplant it into soil if wanted.
- Thermocol Sheet Floating Method:
- Cut a piece of thermocol sheet to fit a bucket or container.
- Make small holes in the sheet and insert mint cuttings into these holes.
- Fill the container with water and add some river sand to prevent algae.
- Place the thermocol sheet floating on the water surface.
- Keep in bright, indirect sunlight and maintain water freshness as above.
